MPLAB ICD with PIC16F877

Hi James.

Yes, Salvo is fully compatible with the MPLAB-ICD development environment.

Have you tried salvodemod4syshd4free.pjt?

If you're getting an error, it's probably due to the sequence in which you're doing things in MPLAB.

Here's a sequence that works with d4free.pjt:

1) Open Project > salvodemod4syshd4free.pjt
2) MPLAB-ICD Window > Reconnect
3) Veryify that "Enable Debug Mode" is set in the MPLAB-ICD Window's Options... window.
4) MPLAB-ICD Window > Program
5) Window > Program Memory, set a breakpoint at the xorwf 0x7 instruction in TaskHigh() located at 0x0557.
6) Debug > Run > Run. Each time the breakpoint is reached, the LED at RC7 will toggle.

Of course you can also set breakpoints in the C source code, etc., though MPLAB (5.20 at least) has some problems "synchronizing" with a source code window.

Can I use the ICD debugger from MPLAB with Salvo? I can compile and program the flash, and run the target, but the debugger just gives me error dialogs. I have included the -ICD switch on the .hex node of the project but still get error dialogs. (I am using PICC 7.87 and Salvo full 2.2)
