I have three general questions,

1.- If I want to buy a Microhard MHX module, will I have to buy an adapter to plug this module into the MB through pc104 connector?

2.- How do you connect a PPM and a MB? (A photo showing that connection will be fantastic)

3.- I have read several posts and in one of them I read that the On-board computer (All his components : Flash Memory, Processor, etc) aren't protected against radiation (Post about flash memory corruption). I'm planning to launch a Cubesat in year 2012. In that year will be a peak of radiation from the sun. There's a way to protect the component against that hazard?

1) The MHX does not plug into the 104-pin connector of th Motherboard or Development Board -- it lives in its own 40-pin socket. You can see those pins e.g. in this picture: http://www.cubesatkit.com/images/CSK_MB_710-00484-D.jpg. It's the two thin connectors on either side of the PPM connector in the midddle. The 104-pin connector is over on the right side. You do not need an adapter. Rev D motherboards are designed for the later MHX420/920A/2420 etc. series.

2) The PPM plugs onto the MB (or DB) via a single 100-pin connector. You can see some renderings of the various pieces here: http://www.cubesatkit.com/content/design.html. We don't yet have a picture of the two mated on the website.

3) Please look at http://www.cubesatkit.com/content/space.html. These are all Rev B and Rev C FM430s (equivalent to today's MB + PPM A1/A2/3. Two of these missions have been in space for more than one year without a single reset event. If you want to shield your processors, by all means go ahead and do so. If you want to fly a different processor (e.g., one of your own choice), then you can develop your own PPM (see http://www.cubesatkit.com/docs/CSK_PPM_Module_Overview_A0_20090512.pdf. In our experience, LEO missions do not have a strong requirement for shielding.

To date, our customers have flown only MSP430s, on Rev B & Rev C FM430s. I believe within the next twelve months we will see additional CubeSat Kits fly with Rev D Motherboards, with PPMs from all three PPM series (A, B & D)
