Linear EPS, distance between battery and PCB

Postby Gauthier P » Thu Mar 12, 2009 6:27 am

Dear aek,

What is the distance between your battery and the lower PCB in your linear EPS? Does it take into account the Vega's vibration spectrum ?

The Linear EPS (Rev D and earlier) is not really intended for use in space -- the losses in its linear output stages, its use of relays, and its lack of a solar panel interface, all limit it to terrestrial use (like as a quiet power supply for radio testing, etc.).

Might it work in space? Maybe. But it's not designed for it. And it's not an efficient solution for a space EPS.
