communication device MHX or Maxstream?

Postby Unregistered User » Tue Dec 02, 2008 8:59 am

Hi there,
I'm interested in you products.
Before purchasing them, i need to know one thing.
For communication device. You guys are using MHX, right?

Do people use MHX 2420 or 920 in their real mission?
And Can we also use Maxstream xtend series in real mission too?
Or is Maxstream modem only for testing?

Thank you

NASA's GeneSat-1 used an MHX-2400, and I believe the follow-on PharmaSat will also use an MHX-2400.

No one (to my knowledge) has flown the MHX-2420 or MHX-920 yet. Also, these newer radios require more power and therefore are really only compatible with the CubeSat Kit's new Rev D electronics.

I don't know of anyone who's flown the MaxStream (XStream or Xtend) versions ...

HawkSat-1 will be flying an MHX-425 which, except for the frequency range, is functionally the same as the 2420 and 920 models.

Be carful with the 2420 and 920 that you have enough link margin. I believe their minimum downkink rate is 19.2kbps which even at the max 1W power requires a strong ground station capability.
