The primary difference between the '1611/'1612 and the '2618 w/regard to USARTs is that the '2618 has to USCIs, whereas the older '1611/'1612 has two USARTs. The USCI can do more.

In terms of real change, the '2618 has the possibility to do two I2Cs, on separate pins.

We will have a set of PPM datasheets available soon that will explain the differences.

And no, Rev C Dev Boards are not well-suited to using '2618s on them, unfortunately. You could create your own board (the replace the TI one with the socket) if you wanted ...

From what i read about the MSP430F2618 there are 4 USCI, but only thuse two from group A can be used as Async communication.
I want to make sure that one of the groupe A Async USCI is being used for the MHXUSB, and the other is free for the user.
About the group B:
is one of them is SPI ,for SD card and other commponenet i might use?
and the last is the I2C, for the RTC and other commponenet i might use?

The USCI ports cant be re-routed, so if one of group B USCI is being used as SPI we acutally have only one Async comm

Two USCI, not four.

Therefore if USCIA0 is functioning as a UART, USACB0 cannot simultaneously function as an I2C controller.
