CubeSat Kit Structure Material?

Someone asked:

What material is the CubeSat Kit structure made of?
The base plate, chassis and cover plate are made from 5052-H32 aluminum. The two plates are made from 0.060" material, the chassis from 0.050".

The chassis is hard anodized and alodyned in a manner that leaves the rail surfaces hard anodized, and the rest of the structure alodyned, so that it remains conductive and therefore gives you a Faraday cage. If it were completely hard anodized, it would be an electrical insulator, which is undesireable in this application.

The CubeSat Kit's feet are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, and are also hard anodized. This alloy has roughly the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the 5000-series material used in the structure.

All fasteners (screws and captive fasterners) are stainless steel.

There are different anodizings for different aluminum alloys. What kinds of anodizing can we use for a 7075-T6 structure and for 6061-T6? We have 2xxx and 3xxx series anodizing for aluminum. is it a problem if we use them instead of 7xxx and 6xxx anodizings?

Your question appears to be a general CubeSat question, and not one specific to Pumpkin's CubeSat Kit.

Therefore I would recommend that you post your question to the CubeSat mailing list hosted at http://www.cubesat.org.
