what is the best way to get support for the pic18xxx and pic16xxx families?
Does the pro version contain source for both/all targets?
The docs mention porting to new targets/compilers a couple of times. How is this done? Is it a pro version purchase?

Hello.

Salvo Pro for PICmicro MCUs will handle Microchip's entire PIC12|14|16|17|18 line.

Sometimes, when there is a major architectural change in a processor family or in a compiler, the current Salvo distribution may lag the other tools. In most cases, if you have Salvo Pro, that won't be an issue. If you have only Salvo LE, you'd have to wait until Pumpkin releases updated libraries, etc.

For example, Microchip has released some PIC18's with the new, extended instruction set. You can still use the current version of Salvo on these parts -- Salvo just doesn't take advantage of the new instructions. With Salvo Pro, you could probably build the application with Salvo all in source code, and you'd have a Salvo application that uses the extended instruction set.

Porting is required only if the compiler is not yet supported, or a new family of processors has sufficiently different architecture that the existing Salvo context switcher won't work. Neither of those is the case for Salvo and Microchip PIC18's ...
