Dunfield Compiler

In order to get Salvo to work with a new compiler (i.e. to "port" Salvo to a new compiler), one would need the Salvo source code, which is only contained in Salvo Pro. Since anyone with the Salvo source code already has Salvo Pro, they're also likely to have one of the two supported compiler (Keil or HI-TECH), and so they woudn't have a need to port to the Dunfield compiler.

We will contact the Dunfield people and see if their compiler can be certified for use with Salvo. In any event, it will be a wehile before we support that compiler, because we have a bunch of toher ports ahead of it and in progress.

I am new to the Salvo RTOS. I just purchased the Dunfield compiler for the 8051. I realize there are other compilers (Keil and Hi-Tech) that have been tested with the Salvo RTOS, but I am on a very limited budget. Has anyone tried to use the Dunfield compiler with this RTOS?

Hi James.

I contacted Dave Dunfield re his compilers.

Unfortunately, we can't certify the compilers for use with Salvo because they don't support C's typedefs. The Salvo code uses typedefs fairly extensivly in order to wok with all of the various targets and compilers we support.

Sorry about that ...
