USART help please

I’m trying to have a communication between two computers and they’re both connected via a RS232...like I would type in a certain char and it would be outputed on other side...

I’m quite a newb in using USART and was hoping for some help...am using a commonly used device produced by MAXIM and is called the MAX232 and using PIC18F458.

I looked at a few earlier posts but are a little outdated...any help would be appreciated.
