cygwin-gcc port

Hello.
My company needs to develop a new firmware for an embedded RTOS system. We need to run a RTOS over a microcontroller and over a PC for simulation purposes. Is it possible?. Can a SALVO specific port (i.e for Atmel or TI) to run by default over cygwin? Is it available any SALVO Lite version to test it over a PC using cygwin-gcc compiler?

Exactly which IDE would you use?

We used to have ports for Metrowerks and Mix Power C.

I wouldn't mind creating a gcc-x86 port if the IDE is easy to use, etc.

We like a 32bit (WIN32) port of Salvo, which allows to run Salvo applications under Windows XP (using cygwin). As the port will rely on Windows' process and thread management features, we suposse Salvo-WIN32 port does ***NOT*** turn Windows into a real-time operating system!. However, We need to develop it for simulation purposes. This approach has been chosen, because we need to work with PCs in the first stages of the project rather than with proprietary embedded systems. Is it possible? is it available any lite version to test Salvo under WIN32?

I understand that ... what I am asking is what is a good IDE_based development environment?

For Metrowerks, we used CodeWarrior and were able to develop the port nicely. We would need a similar IDE in ordet to be able to watch, set breakpoints, etc.

We now have Salvo 4 running on x86 via Visual C/C++ (we used Visual Studio 2003 .NET). It's currently only a Salvo Pro source-code build, but over the next several weeks we hope to release it in Salvo Lite form, which means unlimited tasks and events. Since it will be free, I suspect Salvo Lite will be a standalone and Salvo LE and Pro will be included in all Salvo 4 distributions (assuming it's not too big).
